1
Before

Final pre-op review

The week before. Your team confirms the plan, reviews medications and answers last questions. Fill in your welcome form if you have not already, and choose your music.

2
The night before

Fasting and rest

Quiet evening. Follow the written fasting and medication instructions you were given. Prepare comfortable clothes, arrange your ride home and a responsible adult to stay with you.

3
Arrival

Check-in and a calm first minutes

Welcome. You are welcomed, your identity and procedure are confirmed, and you review the plan one more time with your surgeon and anesthesiologist.

4
Pre-op huddle

Meet your anesthesiologist

Your plan, spoken aloud. Your anesthesiologist confirms your health history, your preferences from the welcome form and the agreed level of anesthesia. This is the moment to say what would make you feel safe.

5
In the room

Positioning, monitors and music

Settling in. Standard monitors, which typically include heart rhythm, blood pressure and oxygen, are placed. Your music starts. You are positioned for comfort, with blankets and pillows.

6
Numbing

Local anesthesia and, if planned, light sedation

Comfort first. Numbing medicine is placed in the treated area. You may feel pinches or pressure at first. Tell the team how you feel; adjustments can be made.

7
The procedure

Your anesthesiologist stays with you

Your surgeon at work. While your surgeon operates, your anesthesiologist monitors you continuously and adjusts comfort as needed. If the plan needs to change, for example to deeper sedation or general anesthesia, it will be explained to you.

8
Recovery

Rest, then home

Afterwards. You rest while your team checks your comfort and recovery. You receive written instructions, medications and an after-hours phone number, and a responsible adult takes you home.
