awakeMD was created around a simple principle: patients deserve clear choices, careful planning and individualized care, including the choice to be awake when it is safe.
Why we exist
Many patients tell us they would consider surgery if they did not have to undergo general anesthesia. We built awakeMD to offer that choice for selected procedures, with an anesthesiologist present throughout, and general anesthesia always available when it is the better option.
Who performs your surgery
Surgery at awakeMD is performed by Dr. Mehrad Jaberi, a Canadian board-certified plastic surgeon (MD, MSc, FRCSC) who also practises at Jaberi Plastic Surgery. awakeMD is a separate practice with its own patient records.
